Tax deductible financial contributions in addition to in-kind donations of goods or services, help to improve the quality of Progressive Horizons’ programs throughout each year. General Fund: Donations are used to improve the overall quality of life for the populations we serve. Education Fund: Funding helps to subsidize technical or college courses expenses such as transportation to and from training, textbooks and other school-related supplies. Medical Fund: Dental services for residents are not funded by state or local jurisdictional grant sources; podiatry and other services are also not funded. The Medical Fund helps provide these services both on a prevention and remediation basis. Activity Fund: Consumer activities are often limited by budgetary constraints. It is the agency’s philosophy that consumers deserve to experience the kinds of life activities experienced by the majority of people – this would include movies, sports outings, field trips, vacations, the occasional play or symphony, and more. We welcome cash donations to provide these experiences to our service recipients. We also welcome in-kind donations of event tickets, airfare miles, and similar activity-related donations. Burial: Almost 75% of our consumers have no immediate family involved in their care. The long-term care population served by Progressive Horizons needs to have its future burial needs considered and fulfilled by the agency. Funds to assist in this are appreciated. Emergency Fund: Expenses associated with emergencies are seldom in an individual’s budget. Assistance to help with this fund is appreciated as well. Program Cost Progressive Horizons administers a variety of residential and treatment programs across a wide spectrum of needs. Our populations are diverse. Agency programs that received no funding increase or less than a $1.00 increase per day since FY2004 include: Mental Health, Foster Care Treatment, and Residential Foster Care. Other programs increased only by a few dollars per day since 2004. For this reason, the agency established a full time office of Development, Marketing and Public Relations in summer 2005. Donations to ease the difference between the actual cost of services and contract revenues.
