Developmentally Disabled Adults
Developmentally Disabled Adults | Treatment Foster Care | CSLA Program | International Division There is great satisfaction in seeing how the adults in this program enjoy being in real homes, having housemates and caretakers, and being part of the work force. The homes, or alternative living units (ALU's), are located in nice neighborhoods, house 1 to 4 residents per house, and are supervised 24 hours per day. Residents are referred to as “consumers” of our services. Each is involved in making choices about various aspects of their lives. Many are able to earn a small stipend performing tasks in their job programs (formerly referred to as “sheltered workshops”). The staff consists of house managers, and round-the-clock community living assistants for each home. Someone is always available to handle the basic needs and activities of daily living, as well as to administer medication. The level of structure and supervision provided is based on individual needs. Several Program Coordinators are on staff and each manages a cluster of homes, coordinating all activities, managing staff and cases, and supervising logistics. A fully staffed Transportation Department, using agency-owned vehicles, drives residents to appointments and activities.
